Ben Affleck directs and stars in this 2012 historical thriller based on the true story of CIA exfiltration specialist Tony Mendez. When militants seize the US embassy in Tehran, six diplomats escape and hide in the Canadian ambassador's home. Mendez invents a fake science-fiction film called Argo, with help from makeup artist John Chambers (John Goodman) and producer Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin), and flies into Iran to bring them out as its location crew.
