The Rock is a 1996 action thriller directed by Michael Bay. Brigadier General Hummel, played by Ed Harris, seizes Alcatraz Island with a group of rogue Marines, takes tourists hostage and threatens San Francisco with rockets of deadly nerve gas. FBI chemical weapons expert Stanley Goodspeed, played by Nicolas Cage, is sent in with a Navy SEAL team and John Mason, played by Sean Connery, a former British agent and the only prisoner ever to break out of the Rock, in a race against time packed with chases and explosions.
