I, Robot is a 2004 science fiction action film directed by Alex Proyas and loosely inspired by Isaac Asimov's robot stories. Will Smith plays Del Spooner, a Chicago detective who distrusts the robots now found in every home. When roboticist Alfred Lanning dies at U.S. Robotics, Spooner and psychologist Susan Calvin investigate an unusual robot named Sonny, and uncover a threat that challenges the Three Laws designed to keep humans safe.
