Dog Day Afternoon is a 1975 crime drama directed by Sidney Lumet and based on a real 1972 robbery in Brooklyn. On a hot summer afternoon, Sonny Wortzik, played by Al Pacino, and his nervous partner Sal, played by John Cazale, try to rob a small bank, but everything goes wrong and police surround the building. Over the following hours Sonny negotiates with the authorities, wins over the crowd and the TV cameras outside, and the surprising reason behind the robbery comes to light.
