Alien is a 1979 science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott. The seven-member crew of the commercial towing ship Nostromo is woken from hypersleep to investigate a signal from a desolate planet, where they find a derelict alien ship. When one crew member is attacked and brought back on board, a lethal creature begins to stalk them through the ship's corridors. Sigourney Weaver stars as warrant officer Ellen Ripley in a film that set the standard for sci-fi suspense.
