Chris Columbus's 1990 family comedy, written by John Hughes, stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, the youngest of a large Chicago family who is accidentally left at home when everyone flies to Paris for Christmas. At first thrilled with his freedom, Kevin soon learns that two burglars, Harry and Marv, plan to rob the house, and he rigs it with elaborate homemade traps. A slapstick holiday classic with a warm heart.
