Illumination's 2010 animated comedy, directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, follows Gru, a grumpy supervillain with an army of yellow Minions and a plan to steal the moon. To get the shrink ray he needs from his rival Vector, he adopts three orphan sisters, Margo, Edith and Agnes, as part of his scheme. Ballet recitals, bedtime stories and amusement parks soon get in the way of evil. A playful family comedy that introduced the Minions.
