Produced by Bones and directed by Yasuhiro Irie, this Japanese anime ran for 64 episodes in 2009 and 2010 and follows Hiromu Arakawa's manga closely. After a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life, Edward Elric loses an arm and a leg and his brother Alphonse his whole body, his soul bound to a suit of armour. As a State Alchemist, Ed hunts for the Philosopher's Stone and uncovers a conspiracy of homunculi at the heart of the military, alongside Roy Mustang and Winry Rockbell.
