Gary Ross's 2012 science-fiction adventure is set in Panem, where the Capitol forces each district to send two teenagers into a televised battle every year. When her little sister is chosen, Katniss Everdeen of District 12 volunteers instead and travels to the Capitol with the baker's son Peeta Mellark. Guided by their drunken mentor Haymitch, the pair must win over sponsors and audiences before entering an arena where only one tribute is meant to come out alive.
