The Revenant is a 2015 survival western directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, inspired by the life of fur trapper Hugh Glass. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Glass, a frontier guide in the 1820s American wilderness who is badly mauled by a grizzly bear during a hunting expedition. Abandoned by his companions, including the ruthless John Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy, he must survive the brutal winter alone. The film won Oscars for DiCaprio, Iñárritu and its natural-light cinematography.
