Disney's 2002 animated comedy, written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, is set on the island of Kauai. Lilo, a quirky little girl raised by her overwhelmed older sister Nani, adopts a blue creature from the animal shelter, not knowing he is Experiment 626, a destructive alien on the run. As Stitch causes chaos, alien scientist Jumba and agent Pleakley try to catch him, and social worker Cobra Bubbles watches the family. The film celebrates ohana, the Hawaiian idea of family.
