The Theory of Everything is a 2014 biographical romantic drama directed by James Marsh and based on Jane Hawking's memoir. Eddie Redmayne, who won the Oscar for the role, plays Stephen Hawking, a gifted Cambridge cosmology student who falls in love with Jane Wilde, played by Felicity Jones, just before he is diagnosed with motor neurone disease. The film follows their marriage, family and his groundbreaking work on black holes and time as his body fails.
