Robert Zemeckis's 1994 drama stars Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, a gentle man with a simple outlook who tells his life story to strangers at a bus stop. From a childhood in Alabama to college football, the Vietnam War, ping-pong diplomacy and a shrimping business, Forrest stumbles into history again and again. Through it all he stays devoted to his friend Jenny, his mother's wisdom and comrades like Bubba and Lieutenant Dan, in a funny and moving modern fable.
