Sofia Coppola's 2003 comedy-drama stars Bill Murray as Bob Harris, an ageing American actor in Tokyo to shoot a whisky commercial, and Scarlett Johansson as Charlotte, a young graduate left alone in the hotel while her husband works. Jet-lagged and adrift in a city they don't understand, the two meet at the hotel bar and share karaoke, late-night wanderings and quiet talks. A gentle, funny and melancholy film about loneliness and connection.
