DreamWorks' 2005 animated adventure comedy, directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath, follows Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo, best friends at Central Park Zoo. When Marty sneaks out to see the wild, his friends follow, and all four are shipped off and washed up on Madagascar. There they meet partying lemur King Julien, while Alex struggles with instincts he never knew he had. A scene-stealing team of commando penguins adds to the fun.
