Memories of Murder is a 2003 South Korean crime drama directed by Bong Joon-ho and inspired by the real Hwaseong serial murders. In a farming province in 1986, local detective Park Doo-man, played by Song Kang-ho, relies on gut feeling and rough interrogations to find whoever is killing young women. He is joined by Seo Tae-yoon, a methodical detective from Seoul, and the two clash as the case grows colder and more desperate. Mixing dark humour with tension, the film is regarded as one of the greatest Korean films.
