300 is a 2006 action epic directed by Zack Snyder and adapted from the graphic novel by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. Gerard Butler plays King Leonidas of Sparta, who defies the Persian god-king Xerxes and leads 300 elite soldiers to the Hot Gates of Thermopylae, while Queen Gorgo, played by Lena Headey, fights political battles at home. Shot almost entirely against blue screen, the film's painted look and slow-motion combat made it one of the most imitated action films of its decade.
