I, Tonya is a 2017 biographical black comedy directed by Craig Gillespie. Margot Robbie plays Tonya Harding, a gifted skater from a poor Portland family who becomes the first American woman to land a triple axel in competition. Told through mock interviews that often contradict each other, the film follows her harsh mother LaVona, played by Allison Janney in an Oscar-winning role, her stormy marriage to Jeff Gillooly and the scandal surrounding the 1994 attack on Nancy Kerrigan.
