The Shape of Water is a 2017 fantasy romance directed by Guillermo del Toro, winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. In 1962 Baltimore, Elisa Esposito, a mute cleaning woman played by Sally Hawkins, works the night shift at a government laboratory with her friend Zelda. There she discovers a mysterious amphibian man captured in the Amazon and slowly bonds with him through music and sign language, while the cruel Colonel Strickland plans to study him at any cost.
