Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 crime drama follows the Corleone family in postwar New York. Don Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando, rules through loyalty and favors, but when he refuses to back a drug deal, a mob war breaks out. His son Michael, a war hero played by Al Pacino who wanted no part of the family business, is drawn in step by step, while hot-headed Sonny and loyal adviser Tom Hagen fight to protect their father. A slow, powerful story of family, power and a man's transformation.
