Back to the Future Part III is a 1990 science-fiction Western comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis that concludes the trilogy. Michael J. Fox returns as Marty McFly, who learns that Doc Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd, is stranded in 1885 and will soon be shot by the outlaw Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen. Marty takes the DeLorean to the Old West, where Doc has fallen for schoolteacher Clara Clayton, and the two friends must find a way to reach 88 mph without gasoline, using a steam locomotive.
