Henry Selick's 1993 stop-motion musical fantasy, from a story by Tim Burton, follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who has grown tired of the same frights every year. Wandering into Christmas Town, he is enchanted and convinces his ghoulish neighbours to run Christmas themselves, even kidnapping Sandy Claws. Only Sally, the rag doll who loves him, foresees disaster, while Oogie Boogie lurks in the shadows. Danny Elfman's songs became classics.
