Disney's 1989 animated musical fantasy, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker and based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale, follows Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, who longs to see the human world. After she saves Prince Eric from a shipwreck, she strikes a risky deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human.
