Cinema Paradiso is a 1988 Italian drama written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore and winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. When famous director Salvatore learns that old Alfredo has died, he remembers his childhood as Toto, a mischievous boy in a post-war Sicilian village who spent every free hour in the local cinema. Philippe Noiret plays Alfredo, the projectionist who becomes his friend and father figure, in a warm story about growing up, first love and the magic of the movies.
