A Separation is a 2011 Iranian drama written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, the first Iranian film to win the Academy Award for best foreign language film. Simin wants to leave Iran with her husband Nader and their daughter Termeh, but Nader refuses to abandon his father, who has Alzheimer's. When Simin moves out, Nader hires Razieh, a devout young woman, to care for the old man, and a single incident leads to accusations, lies and a court case that tests everyone's sense of truth.
