Bridget Jones's Diary is a 2001 romantic comedy directed by Sharon Maguire and based on Helen Fielding's novel. Renee Zellweger plays Bridget, a single London publishing assistant who starts a diary of resolutions to stop smoking, drink less and find a good man. She falls for her charming but unreliable boss Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant, while repeatedly clashing with the aloof lawyer Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, in a modern take on Pride and Prejudice.
