A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 dystopian crime film written and directed by Stanley Kubrick from the novel by Anthony Burgess. Malcolm McDowell plays Alex DeLarge, a teenager in a near-future England who loves Beethoven and leads a gang of droogs on nights of crime. After he is caught and imprisoned, Alex agrees to undergo the government's experimental Ludovico technique, a conditioning therapy that raises troubling questions about free will, punishment and the state.
