Burn After Reading is a 2008 black comedy written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. When a disk holding the memoirs of fired CIA analyst Osborne Cox (John Malkovich) turns up at a Washington gym, employees Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) and the airheaded Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) decide to sell it for profit. Their amateur blackmail scheme collides with Cox's unhappy marriage and a paranoid federal marshal played by George Clooney, as misunderstandings pile up in a sharp satire of spy thrillers.
