Steven Spielberg's 1981 adventure introduces Indiana Jones, a college professor and globe-trotting archaeologist played by Harrison Ford. Recruited by U.S. intelligence, Indy sets out to find the Ark of the Covenant before Nazi agents and his rival Belloq can claim its power. Teaming up with fiery former flame Marion Ravenwood, he dodges booby traps, snakes and gunfire from Nepal to the deserts of Egypt in a breathless tribute to classic movie serials.
